Two sides needing points for very different reasons meet at Carrow Road tonight as Norwich City look to bounce back from a gut-wrenching defeat against Liverpool last time out.

The Canaries were 3-1 up against the Reds last weekend; before even pulling it back to 4-4 in injury-time, only for the hosts to somehow conspire to a 5-4 defeat. Manager Alex Neil has had a week-and-a-half to try and lift his side, but Spurs represent tough opposition to get back on track against.

Boss Neil has dipped into the loan market to bring in striker Patrick Bamford from Chelsea; no-one has scored more than four goals for the Norfolk side this season, so the young Englishman will be a welcome addition for the Carrow Road faithful.

This fixture two seasons ago saw the hosts come out 1-0 victors; a similar result tonight would provide a huge sense of relief for Neil’s side, who have lost three their last three league games on the spin.

Tottenham comfortably saw off the challenge of League One strugglers Colchester United on Saturday, winning 4-1 to progress into the fifth-round of the FA Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have also been in impressive league form having won their last two games back-to-back, scoring seven goals in the process – including Dele Alli’s wonder goal in the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace last time out.

Spurs are five points clear of fifth place and just the same number off top spot, with fans cautiously optimistic that their side could mount a title challenge if the league continues to be as erratic as it has been to date.

Team News:

The hosts have no fresh injury worries to speak of, although they could hand a debut to January addition Bamford up front.

Fellow new arrival Steven Naismith should start having scored on his first appearance for the club against Liverpool.

Defender Jan Vertonghen (Knee-ligament) is set to miss the next two months for Tottenham, so centre-half Kevin Wimmer wil deputise alongside Toby Alderweireld instead. Midfielders Ryan Mason and Clinton N’Jie are also still sidelined for the visitors.
