Michael Appleton’s Oxord were hugely impressive against Swansea

With other League Two sides holding Premier League opposition to a draw, Oxford went one better against their Welsh opponents, Swansea City.

Trailing due to Jefferson Montero’s sublime goal, the sides went into the break level after Liam Sercombe fired home a penalty on the stroke of half time.

After the interval, the U’s began to turn the screw and Kemar Roofe scored a brilliant curling effort before extending their advantage as he raced through and beat the goalkeeper.

Although Bafetimbi Gomis reduced the score to 3-2, United hung on to defeat the top-flight strugglers and put their name into the fourth round for the first time since 1999.
