Top 5: Surprise European Championship Qualifiers
10th September 2015

With the expansion of the European Championships to 24 teams in France next year, there was always the possibility that a number of teams who have rarely stood a chance at qualifying previously would be better placed to do so, with a third place spot guaranteeing at least a place in the play-offs.

However, the qualifying stage for next year’s tournament has thrown up a number of surprises. Wales and Northern Ireland look set to qualify automatically for the finals for the first time when the next international break comes around in October, while Iceland have already sealed their place at the tournament.
