Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to sign £30m-rated Senegal star Sadio Mane.

The defending Premier League champions, who only sit six points above the bottom three after their opening 20 fixtures, are keen on recruiting the Southampton winger to help their miraculous push for the top four during the second-half of the current campaign.

The 23-year-old, who was dropped from the Saints’ squad against Norwich City at the weekend after turning up late to a team meeting, has scored seven and assisted eight goals in 25 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Ronald Koeman’s side.

Mane, who has 29 international caps for his country, is understood to be determined to leave St Mary’s Stadium this January and has told Southampton officials he will not sign a new deal at the south coast club.

Meanwhile Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also expressed an interest in Mane’s services this month.
