Chelsea are reportedly on high alert as to the availability of Italian international striker Graziano Pelle during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.

The defending Premier League champions, who recorded a last-gasp 3-3 draw at home to Everton on Saturday, are monitoring the Southampton’s star situation at St Mary’s Stadium closely following the £4m arrival of Queens Park Rangers hitman Charlie Austin at the weekend.

The 30-year-old, who as ten international caps for his country, has scored nine goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Saints this season.

Pelle, who joined Ronald Koeman’s side from Feyenoord in a deal worth £8m back in July 2014, could be sold by Southampton this month to allow the Italian a new challenge in his career as it is unlikely he’ll be offered a new contract at the club this summer.
