Name: Jamie Vardy
The well-documented rise of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy continues, as he has recently put pen-to-paper on a new three-year contract worth an estimated £80,000 per-week.
The England hotshot has fired the Foxes to within 13 games of Premier League glory, establishing himself as a firm fans’ favourite in the process.
Tireless chasing, selfless running in behind combined with a clinical eye for goal has seen the forward endear himself to the Leicester City fans. Four years ago this week, Vardy scored in a 2-2 draw against Tamworth in front of less than 2,000 spectators. Now he is top of the pile; both in the Premier League table and in its goalscoring charts, where he is two ahead of Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.
Vardy is loved by his fans as he still comes across as though he is playing in the non-league, this was shown by his celebration after scoring his goal of the season contender against Liverpool, as he couldn’t contain his delight at scoring a volley from 30 yards past one of the most prestigious teams in English football history.
Leicester City and Vardy will both hope that the run continues for their popular striker, and hope that the ‘Jamie Vardy party’ continues at least until May.
