Liverpool are reportedly ready to hand Mexico international Javier Hernandez a return to the Premier League in the summer, according to Calciomercato.
The Premier League side, who currently sit eight points adrift of the division’s top four in ninth spot, are keen on recruiting the former Manchester United striker since flourishing away from English football this term.
The 27-year-old, who has 78 international caps for his country, has scored a remarkable 19 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen this season.
Hernandez, who left Old Trafford for the German club in a deal worth just £7.3m last summer, could replace England international Daniel Sturridge at Anfield as the fellow forward has been linked with a move to West Ham United this month.
However Liverpool may face stiff competition for Hernandez’s services this summer from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
