Manchester United are reportedly mulling over a January move for Uruguay international forward Edinson Cavani, according to ESPN FC.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who face Southampton this weekend, have been continually linked with the Paris Saint-Germain striker in recent transfer windows.

The 28-year-old, who has 78 international caps for his country, has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for Laurent Blanc’s Ligue 1 champions this season.

Cavani, who arrived in the French capital from Napoli for a reported €64.5m back in July 2013, is wanted by Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal to solve his side’s striking problems following Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial’s inability to find the back of the net on a regular basis this campaign.
